five things holding you back

It's debilitating. Fear can be a nasty thing. But "everything you've ever wanted is on the other side of fear." It's amazing how much power we give this emotion. It stops a lot of us from chasing our dreams, traveling the world or even asking for that promotion at work. The only way to overcome fear is to face it. Understand that it's an emotion you have control of and that the outcome is probably worse in your head then in reality. So take that step and kick fear to the curb.

I've seen this impact almost everyone I know- including myself. We're often waiting for someone or something to give us a sign. "Is this the right decision?" we'll ask ourselves. "Am I making a mistake if I choose this school over that one." And the next thing you know, you've missed out on an opportunity because you were paralyzed by indecision. The truth of the matter is, there are no right or wrong decision. There's only choice. So make one and accept what may be. Go with the flow. It's how the universe wanted it to unfold.

Giving Your Power Away

They mean well, but they're not you. Our parents, our friends, our colleagues- most have our best intentions at heart. But we can often get caught up in what others think we should or shouldn't do, instead of listening to our heart and what WE feel is right. From personal experience, my father often says to me, "Andrea, just get the ticket," and what he means, is I should get a trade 'ticket' for when times get tough. He clearly means well, but I'm just not feeling it - that's not my dream. And although I feel I'm disappointing him, I know it's my life and that wouldn't make me happy. So why do it?

The Dreaded Failure

Let go of what you can't control. Failure is a part of life and it's the best teacher. Instead of focusing on "what if I fail?", focus on "what will I learn from my failures?". This type of mindset with give you that extra push you need to follow your hearts path and achieve whatever you put your mind to. It's not about being perfect, because there is no such thing. Thomas Edison failed thousands of times before he successfully created the think about about that one for a second.

There comes a time when you just need to believe in your abilities. You don't need anymore school- you've already got two degrees. You don't need to take anymore courses taught by other's doing the same thing you want to do and you definitely should throw away the feeling of being a 'fraud.' Everyone has something great to offer this world, so stop letting a lack of confidence hold you back. Start by doing and taking action.

Cheers to a healthy, happy, and prosperous 2017 - full of meaningful connections, soul igniting experiences and lots of love and laughter. Forget the past, you can't change what's done. All you can do is look at the present moment with fresh eyes and a new perspective. There is greatness in each moment and lessons to be learned everyday.

Are you ready to step into your best life?!

Happy New Year!!

explore for the soul

"You can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to loose sight of the shore"

Just a little inspiration for today

This stands true for anything you do in life. If you feel like you are at a crossroad in your life or possibly just feeling unmotivated or stuck, get out and explore to gain clarity.

I've always incorporated exploration into my life. Whether it be exploring a new city for the best damn coffee shop a girl can find (& croissant) or getting out in nature for a hike with friends or in solitude. These are just some of the simplest ways you can explore your own surroundings.

My suggestion would be that instead of going to the same place you always do for lunch, why not go exploring in another area of your neighbourhood and find a new hot just might surprise and delight you.

Often times we get stuck in the same routine and then we feel like the world around us is speeding by. Although this is often the case (because we live in a fast-paced world), this feeling can be attributed to doing the same things day-in and day-out, and failing to shake things up.

I know that when I get into a routine, it can be a good and bad thing. Sure it adds structure and stability to your life; but exploration can be the cure (you didn't know existed) to a lot of your problems.

Helpful Benefits : Exploration

  • Expands your imagination
  • Offers clarity when you feel overwhelmed
  • Can lead you to something or someone wonderful
  • Provides a break from the mundane
  • Keeps you on your toes
  • Gives you more to talk about with others
  • Can turn you into an expert (if you constantly explore your own city/surroundings) you may just become the go-to person
  • Will definitely give you new perspective
  • Opens up new cultures
  • Brings new meaning and value to your life
  • Is guaranteed to put a smile on your face
  • Calmness and peace (if in nature or exploring alone)
  • Pumps up the adrenaline (depending on where you are and what you are doing)
  • Makes you a more interesting person

So get out there and explore. What are you waiting for?

Let me know where you go and what you encounter. I love new suggestions of places to go and check out :)

Happy holidays!!

do you follow the path of least resistance?

Can you recall a period in your life when everything you tried to do or accomplish was like smacking your head against a brick wall? (i.e nothing is working in your favour?!)

Well today I woke up, opened my email, only to find a transformational piece about 'choosing the path of least resistance,' by the former, Dr. Wayne Dyer.

It was honestly as if someone heard that I needed that guidance right now.

So here it is for all those people struggling to find meaning or gain understanding/enlightenment into what's just not working in their life.

Choose the path of least resistance, to allow yourself to walk into the ease and enjoyment of life.

Article By Dr. Wayne Dyer

You live in a universe that has limitless potential for joy built into the creation process. Your Source, which we call the universal mind of intention, adores you beyond anything you can possibly imagine. When you adore yourself in the same proportion, you’re matched up with the field of intention, and you’ve opted for the path of no resistance. As long as you have even a pinch of an ego, you’ll retain some resistance, so I urge you to take the path in which resistance is minimized.

The shape and quantity of your thoughts determine the amount of resistance. Thoughts that generate bad feelings are resistant thoughts. Any thought that puts a barrier between what you would like to have and your ability to attract it into your life is resistance. Your intention is to live a tranquil life, free of stress and anxiety. You know that stress doesn’t exist in the world, and that there are only people thinking stressful thoughts.

Stressful thoughts all by themselves are a form of resistance. You don’t want stressful, resistant thoughts to be your habitual way of reacting to your world. By practicing thoughts of minimal resistance, you’ll train yourself to make this your natural way of reacting, and eventually you’ll become the tranquil person you desire to be, a stress-free person free of the “dis-ease” that stress brings to the body. Stressful thoughts all by themselves are the resistance that you construct that impedes your connection to the power of intention.

We’re in a world that advertises and promotes reasons to be anxious. You’ve been taught that feeling good in a world where so much suffering exists is an immoral stance to take. You’ve been convinced that choosing to feel good in bad economic times, in times of war, in times of uncertainty or death, or in the face of any catastrophe anywhere in the world is crass and inappropriate. Since these conditions will always be in the world someplace, you believe you can’t have joy and still be a good person. But it may not have occurred to you that in a universe based on energy and attraction, thoughts that evoke feeling bad originate in the same energy Source that attracts more of the same into your life. These are resistant thoughts.

Here are some examples of sentences on the path of resistance, which are then changed to sentences on the path of least resistance

I feel uneasy about the state of the economy; I’ve already lost so much money.
I live in an abundant universe; I choose to think about what I have and I will be fine. The universe will provide.

I have so many things to do that I can never get caught up.
I’m at peace in this moment. I’ll only think about the one thing I’m doing. I will have peaceful thoughts.

I can never get ahead in this job.
I choose to appreciate what I’m doing right now, and I’ll attract an even greater opportunity.

My health is a huge concern. I worry about getting old and becoming dependent and sick.
I’m healthy, and I think healthy. I live in a universe that attracts healing, and I refuse to anticipate sickness.
